What it does

Opening a case

  • Case from the contract

    Search by contract, tenant, unit or building; tenant, unit, rent and outstanding amounts come straight from the contract.

  • Case categories and types

    Criminal, civil or Rental Dispute Centre (RDC), plus your own case types, such as cheque cases.

  • Returned cheques

    Select the bounced or replaced cheques the case concerns, and optionally hold the contract's other cheques once approved.

  • Police and court details

    Police station, case number and filing date, with related cases linked.

  • Fees and tenant charges

    The registration fee is booked as a legal expense on approval and can be charged to the tenant.

  • Draft, approval and dispute status

    Save a draft and submit for approval; once a case is open, the contract is marked as disputed.

  • Referral from leasing

    Leasing and collections teams send a contract to Legal from the contract page, with the grounds for referral.

    Any legal expense can be charged back to the tenant.

    Expenses follow draft, submit and approval, then post to the accounts automatically.
